Fiš paprikaš
Fiš paprikaš (a traditional spicy fish stew) – a specialty of Slavonian and Baranja cuisine prepared with at least two fish species and served with homemade, wide noodles. During the meal, guests first help themselves with noodles onto which they add the stew.
Ingredients
1kg fish (catfish and carp), 1.3 l water, 2dl white wine, 500 g onion, 2-3 chopped garlic cloves, 3 tablespoons oil, 2 tablespoon sweet red paprika powder, 1-2 small dried hot pepper pods (chili), salt, pepper grains
Preparation
Clean, wash and slice the fish. In a pot, fry the finely chopped onions until they turn golden brown. Add chopped garlic, sweet paprika, crushed chili and pepper grains and pour water over it. Let it boil for about ten minutes. Add slices of fish, white wine and simmer for forty minutes without stirring, shaking occasionally. In a separate pot, cook wide noodles.
